Caring for Your New Jewelry

Congratulations!

You've found the perfect handmade piece to add to your collection. By following a few easy guidelines you'll ensure it remains as lustrous and beautiful years from now as it is the day you receive it.

  • Sterling silver is durable but does tarnish. Any commercial silver polish is acceptable for occasional use, but the best way to prevent jewelry from tarnishing is to wear it!

  • To prevent scratches, gently clean your jewelry with a soft toothbrush and diluted dish soap, drying with a microfiber or cotton cloth. Avoid paper towels, which can be abrasive.

  • Never (ever) place your sterling jewelry with a stone in an ultrasonic cleaner! With the exception of diamonds, most gem stones are too soft to be subjected to ultrasonic vibrations and may dull and/or dissolve over time. Again, a soft toothbrush is your friend.

  • Though none of these pieces mind getting wet, please avoid exposure to chemicals. This includes hot tub and swimming pool water, cleaning solutions and solvents, sunscreens, perfumes, and hairspray.

  • This jewelry is made to be comfortable and durable and you'll be tempted to wear it all the time, but removing rings when performing tasks that may cause damage to settings or stones is always a good idea. Better safe than sorry.
